A BIT OF HISTORY

Kalliste means ‘for the most beautiful’, a word inherited from the transfer of the Greek Empire and which probably fell into disuse at the end of the Roman Empire. The Greek Goddess Eris gave an Apple with the inscription Kalliste at the wedding of Peleus and Thetis, which caused a commotion among the gods to decide who was more beautiful between Hera, Athena and Aphrodite.

The Greeks called islands such as Santorini and Corsica ‘Kalliste’ and the word became a name and surname in various regions where those first Greeks settled, such as Umbria, Lazio, Corsica and the Basque Country.
